Blessings

Blessings come in many shapes and sizes – whether from upon high as some may believe, or in the form of little miracles like the birth of a wee one.

Regardless, today I was exposed to two types of blessings – both of which make me laugh with either their keen insight into life, or their humorous but not subtle nature.

A blessing for one who is exhausted” by John O’Donohue shares this nugget of wisdom I found inspiring for work:

Draw alongside the silence of stone
Until its calmness can claim you.
Be excessively gentle with yourself.

Stay clear of those vexed in spirit.
Learn to linger around someone of ease
Who feels they have all the time in the world.

Gradually, you will return to yourself,
Having learned a new respect for your heart
And the joy that dwells far within slow time.

And a good man from Tennessee, Pastor Joe Nelms, gave us this excellent “laugh it up fuzzball” gem over the weekend. I listen to a lot of sports talk when I’m trying to get away from the craziness of my political podcasts – and without listening today, I might have missed this fine piece of lightheartedness! Boogity boogity boo!
